affordable authentic Mexican food in the 'Ham
It's disconcerting, because like I said in the directions, the place looks like a fiesta exploded over a Milo's hamburger joint. For those of ya'll not from the southeast, it looks like a Denny's. But a lot of great restaurants around here are like that, I'm coming to find out, so don't let the corporate appearance of the exterior daunt you.
Once inside, although still present, the Milo's vestiges are buried under authentic Mexican decor. El Cazador is family owned and operated by a family who obviously love their business and more importantly each other and the people around them. The staff is all very closely related, and very inclusive with their familiarity. We always feel like honored guests in their home. And I really think their abuela is responsible for the recipes of the wonderful food.
If you eat nothing else, please try the shrimp soup. Huge chunks of avacado, delicious fresh gulf shrimp, wonderful soup stock. To die for! $3.95. And you never run out of chips and the salsa of your choice. I once asked to try some spicier salsa, and our waittress brought me five bowls and tasted them with us and gave us Spanish lessons using the delicious food on the table as examples. It's like that every time we go. - Redwood , posted 03/09/06
